See below for a list of volunteer opportunities.

You can use the Volunteer Opportunities Form to express your interest. Click on the image to the right to print out the form. Fill it out and send it in to your child’s teacher.


	*Enrichment*

Book Fair	Assist with staff in annual Book Fair Select, set up, and sell all kinds of books!
Curriculum Enhancement	Select and schedule artists and performers in conjunction with Newman faculty for grade level / school wide programs
Curriculum Grants (PTC funded)	Review and award grant requests, from faculty, that enhance curriculum for class / grade / school during monthly committee meeting
Environmental Awareness
Garden	Organize planting and maintenance of school garden in spring and throughout the summer.
Grant Writer	Write and secure grants for special programs at Newman
Health & Wellness	Plan related activities that teach about fitness, health, wellness, and safety.
New Diversity	Organize programs on diversity in conjunction with Newman staff


	*Fundraising*

Box Tops	Publicize Box Tops for Education program that earns money for Newman
Class Baskets	Coordinate donations by classes for theme oriented gift baskets for auction at SpringFest.
Gift Wrap
Invest in Our Children	Assist with the PTC’s major annual fundraising effort
Silent Auction	Plan, coordinate, and run the silent auction component of SpringFest.
Springfest	Plan, coordinate and staff schoolwide fair including rides, booths, food sales (spring date TBD).


	*Communications*

Grade Level Coordinators	Coordinate room parents for a grade level. Provide and gather information for Early Release Days and grade level events.
Email	Assist with management of PTC email system and weekly email communications.
School Directory
Website	Assist with content management of PTC website.


	*Family & School Activities*

Art Volunteer
Book Fund	Publicize and oversee Media Book Fund
Community Service	Organize school wide projects such as holiday gift drive
Disability Awareness
Early Release Day Activities	Assist with coordinating the Early Release Day activity for a grade. Supervise and serve refreshments.
End of Year Picnic	Plan, Run, and Staff end of year picnic (June)
Family Game Night
5th Grade Activities	Assist with organizing dump day and end of year 5th grade events.
Ice Skating Party
Mayrathon	Plan, run, and staff annual school wide race that raises money for a charitable organization (May)
Media Center Volunteers	Assist with operation of Media Center
METCO family and friends
Monster Ball Pizza Party
Yearbook

Teacher Recognition

Plan and coordinate monthly teacher recognition activities.

Faculty & Staff Appreciation Lunch

Plan and coordinate special luncheon in May.

Bake or prepare food to be served.
