The New Diversity Committee seeks to support the educational process for both children and adults in the area of race, culture, family structure, and adoption. The committee has a common mission toward promoting, enhancing, and celebrating cultural, ethnic, racial, religious and familial diversity in the Newman Elementary School community. The committee creates/sponsors programs to support a multi-culturally diverse curriculum.
Events
The committee meets every 1st Tuesday, from 3:15-3:45, in the Teachers Lunchroom and the Parent/Teacher Book Club meets 4 times per school year.
Volunteer Responsibility
Formed in 2005, the committee has been organizing and planning multi-culturally diverse events for students and parents. Volunteers may help by attending meetings regarding cultural diversity (30 minutes once a month). Together the committee generates ideas to support a multi-culturally diverse curriculum.
